Student Leadership positions are held in high regard by the principal, staff, parents and community at Runcorn State School. Student Leaders are representative of Runcorn State School values. They are key participants in both the modeling of standards for their peers and younger students as well as the proactive development of activities that represent the school community.

Across the Primary School years students are involved in a range of leadership opportunities embedded within the school curriculum and annual events. These may involve public speaking, representing the school, team work, coaching other students, involvement in community activities as well as working towards their potential in class. Student leaders are active participants in Runcorn State School events, assemblies and within the community.

In the final years of Primary School students participate in a School Leader selection process aimed at encouraging students to reflect on their leadership skills and further develop these with the aim of receiving a Senior Leader or Student Councilor Badge in their final year of Primary School.

Runcorn State School has a strong history of building student leadership capacity. School Captains, Music Captains (Choir, Strings, Band), House Captains, Environment Captains, Library Captains, and an active Student Council are the key student leadership positions at our school.

Runcorn State School places a strong value on developing and fostering leadership with our students. We do this because we know that leading well can make a positive difference on others. We look closely at how we can set achievable and measurable goals, as well as what it means to be a role model and how we can develop our initiative.

Our student leadership team and the Student Council work together to help support our school and often work closely with our school P&C, Teachers, Staff and Members of the Community. We have student planned events such as discos and free dress days and use the funds raised from these events to help school projects as well as a long standing commitment supporting Canteen and other causes.

Leaders influence others in a positive way.
