It
is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Runcorn State School. We are all
here to support our student's academic achievement and their wellbeing. Your
child's learning is our core business.
Our
aim at this school is to create a happy, caring and secure environment in which
opportunities for all children are provided to facilitate their learning.
Our
staff are highly trained and have clear teaching and learning priorities which
focus on Every Child, Every Lesson, Every Day. They are passionate about
learning and are engaging in best practice.
Our Curriculum is constantly being reviewed and updated.
At
present our priority is to improve student outcomes in Reading
and Thinking. Our decision making is data driven and the
school sets learning targets and individual goals for students to ensure high
expectations and high quality teaching and learning in every classroom.
Academic outcomes for the school have been acclaimed by the Region.
Each day we
strive to create a balance between academic achievement and the wellbeing of
children. The You Can Do It (YCDI)
program is embedded across the school.
We
believe in keeping up with current technologies and all our learning areas are
fitted with ICT equipment, computers and learning devices. At present our school has two computer labs
which cater for whole class lessons.
Our
school focus on Science has seen the implementation of a number of initiatives
over recent years including; a range of sustainability programs designed at
increasing awareness and actively engaging in reducing the schools ecological
footprint. These include, building a dedicated Science and Technology
Learning Centre, Scientist day of excellence, a Gardening club, a worm farm and
outdoor learning experiences.
Our
school focus this year is on Thinking. Initiatives
including the introduction of Visible Thinking, Inquiry Learning and Outdoor Learning
are being implemented.
The
Runcorn State School Community, want you to regard this as your school. A strong partnership between the school and
the home provides the child with a positive opportunity for learning and for
social and emotional growth. We ask that you take an active interest
in the school's activities and in particular in your child and
his/her education.
