It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Runcorn State School. In 2011 we celebrate 110 Years of Excellence in Education. Our aim is to create a happy, caring and secure environment. Opportunities for all children are provided to facilitate their maximum development. Our staff are highly trained and have clear teaching and learning priorities which focus on Every Child, Every Lesson, Every Day. They are passionate about learning and are engaging in best practice curriculum and pedagogical professional development. At present our priority is to improve student learning in the areas of reading comprehension (using QAR), writing (developing writing exemplars and standards across the school) and Problem solving in mathematics (staff professional development in First Steps in Maths problem solving). Our focus areas are data driven and the school sets learning targets and individual goals for students to ensure high expectations and high quality teaching and learning in every classroom. We believe in keeping up with current technologies. All our key learning areas are complete with Interactive Whiteboards, computers and peripherals. At present our school has two computer labs which can cater for both whole class lessons and individual student access. Our school focus on Science has seen the implementation of a number of initiatives over recent years including a range of sustainability programs designed at increasing awareness of and actively engaging in reducing the schools ecological footprint.
